Change No.3 : The Science of Fasting
Since I watched the Netflix documentary The Science of Fasting, I have equipped myself with a new method: fasting for 16 hours, for 8 days (16-8). By placing the body under physical subjection, we allow our focus to be set upon our healing rather than on food consumption. I fasted from 8:00pm to 12 noon the next day. Absolutely no food, only water. Whenever I was hungry, I drank water. The next morning after drinking, I treated myself to some black coffee (without milk) or some green tea.
When fasting, the body has the opportunity to clear the residue. In addition, the cancer cells shiver due to lack of sugar and nutrition. They open their doors which brings toxins into themselves, while also fortifying the good cells when they are flushed with a glass of water. How can cancer live in such conditions?
People have often asked me, "If we fast, how can our bodies remain strong enough to cope with cancer?" Dear ones, based on the research of experts, our body does not need to eat three meals. This eating habit is a human-created habit. The more often we eat, the more we force the body to work harder on digesting the food, which takes away its work on treating the damages in the body. In addition, it hinders the purification of our minds. When the digestive tract is halted for 16 hours, our bodies are able to relax and becomes lighter. It is for this reason that ancient spiritual practitioners went on hunger strikes to attain enlightenment. God, Buddha, priests, and monks have all taken this path.
After the 16-hour fast, we will have a heightened appreciation for our food. Since going on the 16-8, I have had a great appreciation for all my meals. I no longer wanted to expose myself to the unhealthy, dirty foods that would cause further damage to my body. I felt like a blank sheet of paper, not to smudge or stains, but a clean surface for each word to adorn the page beautifully.
My hope is to be able to partake in fasts with specialized institutions, wherein doctors supervise participants during a 3-week communal fast. Countries like Russia, Germany, and the United States all have institutions that help people fast toward their healing. There are many diseases that fasts can be used help treat. Of course, health professionals must be vigilant for complications that could make fasting harmful to the patient.
