Although living with cancer can be difficult, we can mold it into a strength that we can pour back into ourselves.

We invite those who are learning to live with cancer to stand with me in creating a new life.

A letter of hope and love from Jenny Do, Executive Director of Friends of Hue Foundation, a Lawyer, and a Survivor.

Dear Survivors and Loved Ones,

I would first like to begin by wishing you abundance in health, happiness, and hope as I share with you my story.

In 2007, at the age of 41, amid a beautiful and blessed life, I was given the news that I had stage 2 breast cancer. As worry began building around my condition, I surrendered my life to my doctors, trusting in them completely to heal me, as perhaps many other patients do. While they suggested surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, they also encouraged me to continue pursuing my law career, painting, and rock climbing, as well as my other passions for volunteer and social work. After chemotherapy and radiation therapy, the cancer showed signs of receding, and I was prescribed Tamoxifen for five years and continued on with life as before.

In September 2015, my cancer had reached stage 4. It had through my bones and my lungs, and I was told that I only had 30-90 days to live without chemotherapy, and with the appropriate treatment, my life could be extended by 6 months. Unwilling to accept death (partly because I was not ready to leave the world and partly because there were so many things that I still needed to do in life), I devoted my time to learning more about this malignant cancer and its properties with the tireless drive to find a cure.

I had been in the nebulous unknown for several months, struggling through the emotional storms, before finally making a confirmation:

As long as I am living, I will not give up.

While having stood at the edge of life's abyss and being forced to stare straight to the bottom of it while making vital decisions for my life, I have been blessed to have received a plethora of helpful advice and spiritual encouragement from the many loving and caring people in my life. Since then, I have continued living Well With Cancer.

Since 2016, my condition has been declared No Evidence of Disease (NED). I believe it to be imperative to learn how to self-regulate the cancer growth without the use of these synthetic medications. I knew that prolonged use of any kind would eventually weaken me before destroying me. Therefore, I was determined to dedicate my time to researching alternative medicines.

It is my heart's work to dedicate the rest of my life to helping other cancer patients. This need to share what I've learned has led me to have worked closely with at least 50 cancer patients to date. Living with cancer can be a lonely and sometimes painful process. Patients come to us from all walks of life and from all over the world, and I find great joy in sharing my experience in the hope that we can alleviate pain, inspire hope, and live well with cancer.

Although our goals are to offer others mental and emotional support, the fight must come from within the individual. Each one has their own personal battles to conquer, as we are individuals who have different needs and circumstances. We want to convey that the power of the mind and the power of faith can sustain us. I can only share my own experiences from the patient's perspective in navigating through the healthcare system and treatment process.

Since its establishment on July 9, 2018, to current day, Well With Cancer has received an overwhelming amount of attention and love. (We thank you and we love you.) This has encouraged us to further devote our fervor to building Well With Cancer so that we can share the resources that have the potential to nourish us into healing.

The word “cancer” can evoke fear. We hope that the words and ideas throughout this website. We hope to empower you as we stand against cancer together, as we survive willfully together, and as we live courageously together. Let us accept that although cancer is born from our bodies, we can mold it into a strength from which we can pour back into ourselves. Rather than fearing cancer, we can allow this fight to serve us. How do we do this? If we choose to perceive it as something that is able to be defeated, cancer has the potential to urge us to live righteously, to live truthfully, and live healthy and meaningful lives.

Here you can find some basic knowledge, like the 7 lifestyle changes to stay healthy and overcome cancer to the more frequently asked questions, as well as some case-specific issues that patients have shared with me. We also offer articles and videos that are based on personal experiences surviving cancer. In addition, we have compiled a wealth of information about foods, life activities, and services that promote health and healing.

We will soon be adding a navigation assistance resource that will provide guidance in navigating the complicated cancer care system. We will have a dedicated helpline that can walk you through how to navigate the system and answer your questions.

Our hope is to empower fellow cancer survivors to learn how to live peacefully with it.

May we continue showing our support and love for the ones who are in their plight, the ones who have come out of it, and the families who endure with us.

With love,

Jenny
