Rice

Rice? Many people can't quit. It may be completely in my imagination to claim that if I really wanted to, I could. Someone have asked me if we can replace white rice with varieties of corn, potatoes, cereals, brown rice, etc. When I had to cut my carbohydrate (sugars from starches or vegetables) intake cut to 20-50g / day, I had to be very considerate about what I replaced it with.

A bowl of white rice is 44g of carbohydrates. It does not offer much else in the likes of protein, fiber, magnesium, phosphorus, etc. I had long ago abandoned rice and carbs, but sometimes I eat sweet potatoes, especially those with bold colors (I often avoids consuming white foods which contain high amounts of sugar and low amounts of vitamins.)

Of course, this is just a general rule set by myself, and is not always applicable. Usually, the bolder the colors, the more nutrients they bring. (Purple foods usually have anti-cancer agents called anthocyanin.) If one must use starch, I often opt for quinoa and sepia-colored starches, barley, farro (the more coarse the Moina, the better), black rice, brown rice, etc. But I do not consume too much of it because 1 bowl is consists of almost 30g of carbohydrates.

The total number of vegetables and fruits is more than 50g / day. So, if you eat these types of starches, I never have them in 2 meals, but only 1 meal. I will choose to eat vegetables instead of starch for a while. I truly no longer need to miss carbs.
